Phil Nicholls

After graduating from the University of Exeter, Phil Nicholls began his career at Lucas Aerospace in 1984 as a Design Engineer. After moving into Computer Aided Design, he embraced general IT Management by heading up the Computer Aided Engineering support function. As well as day-to-day functional management, he was responsible for special projects such as implementation of a new CAD system and change management within Engineering involving the transformation of the company to a project oriented organisation.

A move into the shipbuilding industry provided further promotion and experience in the wider IT arena outside of CADCAM. During his MBA and at other times he has undertaken research into optimised implementation methodologies and the cost justification of large IT implementations. His time at Vosper Thornycroft included departmental management and budgetary responsibility and again involved the management of many special projects. It culminated in his management of a large ERP implementation.

At Cincom Systems he spent most of his time implementing ERP systems across all sizes of customer, from the global players to the small start-ups. This involved him in assignments both in the UK and abroad in the US and Europe. During this time he assumed responsibility for the implementation services for a complete software product line.

In the last twenty years he has been developing Medatech UK as Managing Director. Medatech provides ERP solutions specifically for Small to Medium Sized Enterprises in the UK and Europe. Phil has grown the business to a turnover of over £2m under his direction.
